The road goes on

My mishap with the not so continous Rye Road ended me up on highway 11. I visited a little store in Trout Creek - asking after Thelma - but perhaps I have the wrong town. There was a huge dog show going on in the arena and dogs everywhere. I think in Sundridge (but possibly before) I ended up back on back roads and travelled around Eagle Lake - on roads that were a single lane of dirt in places... but again.. beautiful country

Hi!
I found your blog by googling Rye Road, which I have intentions of exploring next summer. I have a cottage past Restoule, near Golden Valley. I've often wondered if the old roads such as Rye Road were still passable back in the bush. I've read local books about the logging days of that area, about the homesteads and small hamlets, and feel the need to explore.
So my question for you is, is Rye Road an ok dirt road, or a muddy one lane trail? Would I be ok in a sedan, or be better off in truck(or an ATV haha)?

I envy you and your travels! Good stuff!

At this point, I don't remember the road well enough to say, but my recollection of the area was that I was forced to turn around and go back the way I came and that was a few years ago so who knows what has happened since. I'd ask someone from the area before going anywhere
