Humid warmth - dog's breath
Gasping soup-thick air, singed lungs
Heave deeply to fill

Showering rain, cool balm
Brown withered grass softens, greens -
Wet earth smell revives

Chomped viburnum leaves
Curl inwards to shelter from beasts -
Small, toothed monsters

Raiding raccoons thump
Drunkenly up the drain spout -
Rooftop ruckus wakes

Libary computers
Banks upon banks in cool room
Tempted by coffee
